Qué antiguas parecen haber quedado aquellas elogiosas portadas de prensa internacional que acaparó José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, como la de Time en septiembre del 2004 (“Spain’s new man“) o la de Newsweek en abril del 2006 (“Making socialism work“), que incluso se colgaron con orgullo en algunos despachos del cuartel general del PSOE en la calle Ferraz de Madrid.
